CFRT PU Sandwich Panel
The Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic (CFRT) Polyurethane (PU) Sandwich Panel combines CFRT sheets with a polyurethane foam core using specialized adhesive. The CFRT skin features multiple layers of unidirectional fiber tapes at different angles, impregnated with thermoplastic resin and often covered with protective film. The closed-cell PU foam core provides thermal insulation and waterproof characteristics, with materials like wood, aluminum, or fiberglass embedded for enhanced stability.
This configuration delivers lightweight construction with densities lower than traditional Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) or aluminum materials. The continuous fiber reinforcement provides high impact resistance and shape recovery after deformation. The sandwich structure maximizes bending stiffness as CFRT facings carry tensile and compressive loads while the foam core resists shear forces.
Available in thicknesses from 10-120 millimeters, widths up to 2.8 meters, and lengths to 12 meters, panels feature customizable foam density and glossy or matte surface finishes. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining enables precise cutting, drilling, and custom fabrication for assembly-ready components.
Primary applications include refrigerated truck bodies, cold storage rooms, mobile cold rooms, and caravan construction. Unlike thermoset FRP variants, the thermoplastic resin matrix offers improved impact resistance and recyclability while maintaining waterproofing and corrosion resistance properties.
