Insulated Metal Panel
Insulated metal panels combine two metal sheets with an insulated core to provide thermal resistance, structural protection, and finished surfaces in a single assembly. These prefabricated building components streamline construction for commercial, industrial, and residential roofs and walls by eliminating multiple material layers and reducing installation time compared to traditional built-up systems.
The panels typically feature steel substrates with weather-resistant coatings and rigid foam insulation cores. Polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam delivers R-values around 7 to 7.2 per inch, while advanced technologies like QuadCore achieve up to 8.0 per inch. The foam core enhances acoustic performance and airtightness while maintaining lightweight properties at approximately 3.3 pounds per square foot.
Available in corrugated, trapezoidal, and flat profiles, panels range from 24 to 45¼ inches wide and 1 to 8 inches thick, providing R-values from R-5 to R-72. Standard lengths extend up to 54 feet, accommodating pitched roofs with slopes as low as 4 degrees, flat roofs, wall systems, and specialized applications like cold storage facilities.
Installation utilizes concealed or exposed fasteners attached to structural trusses with support spacing of 4 to 5 feet. Interlocking joints ensure secure placement, while the prefabricated design enables rapid assembly and supports additional installations such as solar panel mounting systems.
