FRP/GRP Sandwich Panel
Fiber-Reinforced Polymer/Glass Reinforced Plastic (FRP/GRP) sandwich panels combine a polypropylene honeycomb core with thermoplastic skins through thermal lamination. This adhesive-free process creates homogeneous bonding between materials, delivering high strength-to-weight ratios and full recyclability. The panels resist moisture, corrosion, chemicals, and provide sound dampening with dimensional thermal stability.
Panel construction features Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic (CFRT) or FRP/GRP skins thermally fused to honeycomb cores containing non-woven polyester scrim and polypropylene barrier films. Available thicknesses range from 6mm to 120mm, with maximum dimensions reaching 2.8m width by 12m length. Core densities span 60-100 kg/m³ with cell sizes from 3mm to 16mm.
Mechanical properties include compressive strength of 1.47-2.6 MPa, shear strength of 0.40-0.68 MPa, and thermal insulation with U-values around 2.20 W/m²K. Processing utilizes Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, thermoforming, and die-cutting. UV resistance comes through carbon black additives or protective coatings.
Applications span transportation (truck bodies, recreational vehicles, yachts), construction (partitions, flooring), and industrial uses (containers, tooling). Customization includes tailored dimensions, core densities, surface finishes, and complete Component Knock Down (CKD) assembly kits.
