CFRT PVC Sandwich Panel
The CFRT PVC Sandwich Panel combines Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic (CFRT) skins bonded to a rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) foam core using adhesive. The panel delivers lightweight properties with structural integrity, serving as an alternative to fiberglass, pre-coated steel, aluminum, or stainless steel in industrial and construction applications.
The CFRT skins feature multiple layers of unidirectional thermoplastic prepreg tapes laid in different directions, typically two to nine layers. Glass fibers embedded in a thermoplastic matrix such as polypropylene provide high strength and impact resistance. Available thicknesses range from 0.4 to 10 millimeters, with customizable fiber orientation and content. An optional protective surface film enhances scratch resistance.
The closed-cell PVC foam core, with densities from 40 to 250 kilograms per cubic meter, prevents moisture absorption while providing waterproofing and corrosion resistance. Higher densities increase mechanical performance. Panel specifications include thicknesses from 10 to 120 millimeters, widths up to 3.2 meters, and lengths up to 12 meters. The thermoplastic components support recyclability.
Applications span recreational vehicles, box trucks, refrigerated transport, building interiors, marine vessels, furniture manufacturing, and packaging where weight reduction, thermal insulation, and resistance to harsh conditions are required.
